The Lexus LFA
Lexus was established by car maker Toyota to compete with the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Ben. They built luxury cars. They have entered the supercar segment with a unique car. It’s called the Lexus LFA and it is the total opposite of what a Lexus should be. A normal Lexus is quiet, the LFA screams like an F1 car, a Lexus is made of steel, the LFA is made of carbon fibre, a normal Lexus has a V6 engine the LFA has a compact V10 engine, a normal Lexus has 4 doors the LFA has only 2 doors. Lexus produced only 500 units of the LFA and only 50 of the Nurburgring Edition LFA’s.
The engine
The engine in the LFA is a compact naturally aspirated front-mid mounted 1LR-GUA 4.8 litre V10 that produces 552 bhp with a top speed of 200 kph that is made completely by Yamaha. The radiator for the LFA is placed at the back of the car.The LFA gets from 0–60 in 3.7 seconds and 0–100 in 5 seconds and has 9000 revs not exactly Ferrari numbers but close enough. The LFA is equipped with ceramic disc brakes to bring the car to a stop no matter how fast you go. The LFA is equipped with a single clutch transmission with paddle shifter.
The LFA engine is always at its maximum power. Unlike the BMW M5 and other M series BMW where you have to press the M button on the steering wheel or the dashboard to turn it into a beast like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the LFA is always a beast. You just have to put the pedal to the metal and he’ll turn into a monster, kind of like The Hulk. Since the LFA is a rear wheel drive car this means that you’ll be going sideways a lot and burning a lot of rubber. The noise the LFA makes is phenomenal and can’t be mistaken. It sounds like an F1 car ad you have Yamaha to thank for that. Yamaha tuned the to get it as close as possible the real deal.The LFA is made of carbon fibre making the car very light. It weighs about 1500 kg. This means that the car can accelerate fast, very fast. It gets from 0–100 in 4.6 seconds.

The exterior
The exterior of the car features sharp edges and cutaways for improved aerodynamics and downforce. The wheelbase for the LFA is 2,606 mm. The Lexus has a speed sensitive rear wing that deploys at 80 Km/h. There are air ducts on top of the rear fenders that channel air to the engine and brakes. It also has air ducts under the car to cool the titanium exhaust pipes. The LFA looks just as good as it sounds. It looks aggressive and menacing. It is a sight to behold. The car looks beautiful from every angle.
The interior
The interior of the LFA is nothing short of luxurious. The material used for the interior of the car consists of Carbon fibre, Alcantara and metallic surfaces. For the speedometer, the LFA makes use of a thin-film transistor digital display. The reason for this is because an analogue speedometer could not keep up with the mind-boggling speed of the LFA. Lexus has gone with 2 bucket seats that hold you in place when you corner.On the steering wheel is the push start button and behind the steering wheel are the alloy paddle shifter. A 12 speaker Mark Levinson sound system that is made with lightweight components allows you to play your favourite songs but with that wonderful engine noise, I doubt that you would want to listen to songs.
The final verdict
The Lexus LFA is really a car worth owning and worth driving.The LFA is the type of car that you buy if you want something that is different, to stand out. The LFA is Toyota proving to the car world that they too can build cars that are fun.
