There are cars that will get you killed when you push it to the limit and then there are cars that would allow you to push it to a new threshold of limit, like this masculine looking Nissan GTR R35,. The amount of technologies that Nissan has put into this car is mind-boggling. It has a smart four-wheel drive system that sends power to each individual wheel that takes you speeding through a corner without crashing. So you can speed the GTR iround a corner without having to worry about crashing.. Just be prepared for the face ripping G forces that come with cornering fast . It has ‘launch control’ to help you get off the line fast without your tyre smoking. You get, from a stand still, to 100 KM/H in 3.2 seconds.

The R35 twin turbocharged VR38DETT DOHC V6

The Engine

The engine in this car is a front mounted twin turbocharged 3.8 liter VR38DETT DOCH V6 that is mated to a 6 speed semi automatic dual clutch transmission located at the back of the car. The GTR can get from 0 to 100 KM/H in 3.2 seconds — thanks to its engine . The engine is handmade and so the power output might vary from car to car. It has a top speed of 311 KPH, 485 horsepower and 588 newton meter of torque. This power is laid on the road via a very smart four-wheel drive system that has four wheel steering. Every new model that Nissan makes is always faster than the last. But this comes at a price because this car is not very fuel-efficient. It also has what Nissan calls the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC-R) to keep the car stable at any speed. This car comes with Launch mode that helps you get moving from a standstill without any wheel spin.

The Exterior

The exterior of the GTR look, as Nissan chief creative officer puts it, like the giant robots from the Gundam anime series. He said that the GT-R had to really reflect Japanese culture. The rear of the GTR was sculpted by Nissan’s American designers while the roof line was sculpted by their designers in Europe. The GT-R is a two door sports car just like the R34 but bigger than the R 34. Let me put it this way, the R34 is like the skinny and short Steve Rodgers and the R 35 on the other hand looks like the muscular and well built Captain America. 22 inch rims come as a standard on the R35 as well as the 5 inch tailpipes. Look at the back of the car and you will see the familiar four circle tail lights that you have probably seen on its predecessors from the R32 all the way up to the R34. The chassis is reinforced with a carbon composite cross member and aluminium is used for the hood, trunk lid, outer door skin and die-cast aluminium is used for front shock towers and inner door structures. For added rigidity and precision the outer panels of the GT-R are stamped using multiple –strike coining process. The GT-R has a curb weight of 1,740 kilogram. The exterior of GT-R is designed is such a way that it channels air to the rear wing. The 2009 &2010 GT-R have a length of 4,656 mm while the latest modal has a length of 4,671 mm. The wheel base is 2, 780 mm in length and has remained the same thru out every model. It has a width of 1,895 mm while later modal came with a width of 1, 902 mm and a high of 1, 369 mm. The GT-R comes with flush mounted aluminium door handles so that it does not interrupt its beautiful lines.

Features

There are different models of the GTR among them are the Spec V, the Black Edition and the Nismo

The Nissan GTR Spec V came with carbon fiber rear spoiler brake ducts and grill, 20 inch black Nismo wheels and an Ultimate Black Opal paint job. Inside carbon fiber is used to cover the center storage box dashboard and replaces most of the interior trim. The front seats are changed to carbon fiber Recaro seats and the back seats are taken out. this makes the Spec V GTR 60 KG lighters than the standard GTR. It also features a titanium exhaust pipe ,reworked suspension and carbon ceramic disc plates .

The Black Edition GTR comes with 20 inch RAYS wheels a carbon fiber spoiler and red and black leather interior.

The Nismo GTR comes with a matt grey low gloss paint job 20 inch forged alloys by RAYS , a racing style carbon fiber rear wing and a and a Nismo bodykit that features a front spoiler with Carbon fiber air ducts. The Nismo GTR’s horsepower has been increased to 591 and the car is out fitted with Nismo tuned suspension to handle the power. Cooling ducts for the brakes are added. The interior of the Nismo GTR is covered in red and black synthetic suede

The interior

Despite it being a sports car there is still enough space at the back for two grown men to fit in. The seats in the GT-R are well bolster covered in leather. These seats are designed to hold you in place when you are cornering hard. In fact the GT-R s interior is covered in leather and carbon fibre giving it a premium feel. The big meaty steering wheel and straight forward gauges puts you in control of the car it let you feel every bump in the road and how the car is reacting to your every input.

The car comes with 11 speaker Bose sound system with two forward facing woofer in the rear centre armrest and comes with Bose active noise cancellation system that filters out road noise for a quieter drive and so that rear occupant enjoy the music .

The centre mounted multi information display that houses the boost level; oil temperature etc, was made in collaboration with Polyphony Digital, the creators of Gran Turismo.

The Final Verdict

At the price of RM100,000 the Nissan GT-R is a bargain compared to its competitors . And not only that, the fact that it is just as fun to drive as any other supercar and that it pull so much lateral Gs that it could possibly break your neck makes it one hell of a machine to drive. It‘s twin turbocharged V6 engine give it Ferrari like speed and it’s four wheel drive system lets you have fun without crashing . The multi instrument panel give you information at the touch of a button and it launch mode get you off the line quick. Nissan may have dropped skyline from its name but it still lives up to it’s Godzilla nickname .
